Obituary of George Harold Peters

George Harold Peters, 80, of Yuba City, passed away peacefully on August 28th at Rideout Hospital with family by his side. He passed away after a surgery due to other underlying chronic medical conditions. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, George managed his illness with strength and grace, and wanted to continue his normal daily activities such as yardwork, cooking, keeping up on grandkids and, of course, hunting and fishing with his buddies without complaining. He was born to the late Carl and Rosa Peters on February 25, 1942. George's parents came from Germany at the age of 18. He was one of four sons. Milton Peters (Texas), Richard Peters (Florida), and the late Carl Peters (California). The four boys were raised in District 10. George worked extremely hard. He took great pride in earning his Eagle Scout, along with his son, Greg, earning his Eagle Scout. After graduating from Marysville High School, he attended Yuba College for a short time and then he served in the US Army for 2 years while stationed in Germany. His time in Germany allowed him to meet his German relatives. Upon honorable discharge, he started his life-long career first at Maury Kane, Frank Booth, and completed his life-long career as a sheet metal worker at W.V. Alton Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, snowmobiling, water skiing, racing boats, yard work, and entertaining. In his later years, he and his late wife enjoyed traveling the world, along with many trips to Idaho to see his daughter's family. Some of the fondest childhood memories are the snowmobiling trips, hunting trips, and long summer days at the river or lake. Those of you that know dad, know he had a need for speed and we had to wax the boat before and after a day on the water! And, don't forget to wash your feet before getting in his boat or you would hear about it! George is preceded in death by his wife, Lou; mother, Rosa; father, Carl; step-father, Walter; and brother Carl. He is survived by son, Greg Peters (Pattyi); daughter, Courtney (Kelly); stepsons, Greg Tatro (Jessica) and Gary Tatro (Summer); along with 9 grandkids, Sawyer (17), Emerson (10), Austin (19) Carson (17), Gavin (24), Katie (21), Grace (19), Colin (17), and Maren (10). Thank you to the various doctors and nurses at Rideout Hospital and River Valley Rehabilitation Center for taking such great care of our dad. The family held a celebration of Life on Friday, September 2, 2022, at his residence. George had one wish to come home and sit on his patio where he loved to BBQ and entertain.
