Obituary of James Ray "Jimmy" Baker
James Ray "Jimmy" Baker, passed away on August 25, 2022, in Marysville, California. A memorial service is planned for September 8, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City, CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kampan (Bonnie), his parents, Ralph and Pauline Baker and his sister, Alma Fay Millar.
He is survived by his sister, Carol Lowery (Yuba City); a brother, Danny Rehms (Olivehurst); and his brother, Virgil Baker (Yuba City). Also, he is survived by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces.
Except for his 3 3/4 year stint in the US Air Force, Jimmy was a lifetime resident of the Yuba-Sutter area. While in the Air Force and stationed in Thailand, he met his wife, Kampan (Bonnie). They were married in Thailand and she came to the United States in 1970. Jimmy and Bonnie were married for almost 40 years.
When he was discharged from the Air Force, Jimmy went to work for Shackleford Apiaries. A couple of years later, he left Shackleford Apiaries and went to work for Strachan Apiaries. In the 90's, he started his own Apiary business. He ran his business until he had to sell and retire to care for his wife.
Jimmy loved working with bees and he was well-known in the Apiary community as an expert and knowledgeable person for advice. Even up to his passing, he had an active bee hive that he still tended.
