Obituary of Norma M. Sanborn
Norma M. Sanborn passed away November 25, 2022 after complications from Covid. She was born October 20, 1928 in Lincoln, IL to Rene and Goldie Hoagland. She was 94 years old.
She was an active member of the Meridian Methodist Church and a member of the Rebekah Lodge for 70 plus years.
She was active with the Shriner's for numerous years. Her favorite time was camping with Hillbilly Chapter.
In her younger years she enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with her family. The beginning of April is the opening of trout season. The entire family would go up to Elam for a week to camp and fish. She kept a calendar in the trailer and recorded every fish that was caught daily. She recorded the length, weight, species and who caught it.
She was a Cub Scout leader when her sons were young. She also drove her daughter to numerous horse shows.
She loved her sports and went to every game she could, from children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was extremely proud of her grandsons Mario and Bryan, who are both Navy Veterans.
Every holiday she decorated her home and yard. Her motto was "The more, the better".
She was preceded in death by her father Rene Hoagland, mother Goldie Moseng and stepfather Elvin Moseng. Her first husband Roland Barber, her second husband David Sanborn, her brother Robert "Bud" Hoagland, a stepson Michael Sanborn, a grandson David Barber and a great-grandson David S. Leyva.
She is survived by her children Lorrie Barber of Warsaw, MO, Gene Barber of Sutter, CA, Robert (Debbie) Sanborn, stepson Patrick Sanborn of Las Vegas, NV, stepdaughter Penny Sanborn of Modesto, CA, sister-in-law Helen Hoagland of Lincoln, IL.
She has eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She loved them all and will be terribly missed as she always had an open door for all.
A private family service was held. A Celebration of Life will be held in early summer.
