Obituary of Jessica Jean Crawford

Jessica Jean Crawford departed this earth on November 21, 2022. Born in Marysville, CA, on October 29, 1936, to Thomas and Lita Crawford, Jean was the ninth of eleven children who were raised in District Ten. A lifelong resident of the Yuba-Sutter area she went on to live an extraordinary life full of love and laughter, a life enriched by a large loving family. After completing her education at California State University Chico, Jean enjoyed a successful career in business administration for Yuba County Schools, and was an active member of Quota Club. Jean enjoyed many activities and pursuits and chief amongst them was time spent with family. These times included joyful trips to Hawaii to spend time with her sister Dorothy, exploring the East Coast with sisters Merry and Charlyn and weekends spent at her family cabin in Sierra City, with her brothers, Dick, John and Dave and sisters Barbara and Zetta. Jean's family home was host to every Christmas Eve where her brothers Bob and Jim would provide fresh seafood caught in the Pacific Northwest, and her many in-laws played fierce rounds of trivial pursuit. In later years Jean became the family historian, thoughtfully presenting albums, books, and photographs of the Crawford family memoirs to the next generation. Jean will be greatly missed and forever celebrated by her surviving sister Zetta; brother Dave; sister-in-law Sue; her nieces, Mary, Debbie, Trish, Kathy, Lita, Jan, Cheryl; and nephews, Brian, Steve, Charles, Eric, Michael, and Mark. Along with family she will be missed by her caretakers, Erma and Lisa, and all those fortunate enough to have experienced her warmth and kindness. In lieu of a ceremony, Jean's wish was to have a celebratory evening with her family gathered in her honor. Jean was a kind woman who leaves behind a legacy of grace.
