Obituary of Jagjit S. "Jack" Punian

Jagjit S. "Jack" Punian, a long-time resident of Yuba City, CA, died peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2022, surrounded by members of his close family. Born in Fiji, September 22, 1933, to Hazara and Rajpati Punian, Jack was one of eleven children. He moved to Yuba City in 1956, became a farmer and eventually formed a business partnership with two of his brothers. After retirement, Jack loved spending time in the Yuba-Sutter area with periodic travels to participate in various family celebrations. His favorite way to spend each day was with his two surviving brothers, Jit Punian and Ranbir Punian. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and four of his siblings. He is survived by his only son, Vijay (Renee) Punian of San Jose, CA; and his two grandchildren: Chelsea Punian (Quinn Zemel) of Tualatin, OR and Corby Punian of San Jose, CA. In addition to his two brothers, he is also survived by his three sisters and many nieces and nephews, all whom brought much joy into his life. Everyone who knew Jack experienced his big heart and giving nature. Wearing his favorite cowboy hat and boots, he would light up any room with his warm smile. All the people whose lives he touched will remember his kindness, wisdom and generosity. Jack's guidance and calm presence will be greatly missed by his friends, neighbors and especially his large, extended family. Services will be conducted Sunday, October 23, 2022, at 11am at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City. Prayers and cremation will follow at Ullrey Memorial Chapel Crematory. Final prayers and reception with refreshments will follow at the Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, 2669 Bogue Road, Yuba City.
