Obituary of Cindy Verle Langford

Cindy Verle Langford, a lifetime resident of Live Oak, CA, passed away and went to be with Jesus on February 1st 2023, at the age of 68. Born in 1954, she was the only daughter of Walt and Opal Robblee, gracing the world with her presence 11 years after her brother, Lonny Robblee. Mimi, Sparkie, or Woman are just a few names Cindy went by for those who knew her best. How she earned those names through the years are all stories of their own and many of them come along with a good chuckle and likely started with the signature raised eyebrow she could throw like daggers at a target if warranted, just ask Lou about his many faceoffs with the infamous eyebrow. However, sometimes she would say, I don't know that I am doing that. Although many things could trigger this signature weapon, no one drew out her raised eyebrow like her biker husband cleverly known as Mr. T in many circles. Mr. T pushed all her buttons yet they remained together for 49 wonderful years enjoying the many trips across the country, to Canada, bike rallies, RV rallies, family reunions and visits to their son's family, wherever they were stationed at the time. Sparkie longed for hugs from everyone but no one more than those who referred to her as wife/partner, mom, Mimi. Sparkie could hug with the best of them and those hugs came in many forms. Cindy was an active participant in Ladies In The Son, being a prayer warrior and encouraging many. Tina Verle said she was her sister, friend, Joy Buddy, counselor, confidant and more. Cindy had few vices, but bacon had to be her kryptonite. Camping and riding the Harley were constant activities of choice, or just going for a drive in the car, as passenger of course. Sparkie was an avid card player corrupting her children at a young age from Solitaire (before computers) to Rummy, Skip-Bo, Cribbage, and others. Mr. T rarely won a game without her sheer sympathy or lack of attention to the game. Sparkie's only real competition would come from her mother-in-law Lois, who is and always will be a card ninja in disguise. Hearts adorned her clothes, her home, and camp trailer. Red was always a favorite color, until recently purple tickled her fancy. Her cowgirl hats always sported personality and flare of all kinds making her easy to single out in a crowd. She loved riding their Harley Davidson trikes, Sweet Caroline and Misty Blue, with her husband, Lou Langford. Although she was not the most active participant in co-riding the Harley, except when keeping track of how many hawks were spotted on the ride. She was in HOG heaven whenever riding along on her chariot. She would even fall asleep sometimes. She probably liked to ride more than Lou. She also loved camping, or "glamping," as some may describe it, as she did not care for roughing it much. However, she loved sitting around a campfire, even a fake fireplace in the RV and a small one in the house, as it was soothing to her. Snow was always just something to look at like art, never something to ski on or slide in as that stuff was just too cold for her bones. After retirement from the USPS and walking away with the trophy for most mailboxes clipped in a town with only one stoplight, she and Mr. T went on many adventures participating (aka partying) like rockstars supporting the lions club, church events, HOG Chapter events, road trips, and many more. From visiting Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, to making a run to Sturgis in 2018, they would live it up and see the world like kids exploring what the world had to offer. They even went on a group motorcycle ride up the West coast and back, over a 12 day period and traveling 3,300 miles in 2019. It was good to see them enjoying the fruits of their labors together. During their trip to Canada, Lou would stop at every waterfall and take pictures, she finally said, "If you've seen one, you've seen them all." That is, until she saw one she really liked. Lou never let her forget that statement, no matter what the topic was at the time. Mr T is like that. Unfortunately, COVID hampered traveling and some camping desires in 2020 and 2021. In her younger years she would say, she was basically raised by her older brother, Lonny. She loved listening to Lonny play drums and sing sometimes in a band. She even traveled as far as Idaho with him when he was playing music. Cindy never cared much for fishing, as she said she spent hours with her dad as a kid bored to death, sitting on a river or creek bank. She did love playing softball, as a teenager and younger adult. She was a great support to her family. She was an encourager to many. Stubbornness came naturally to Sparkie and rarely did it not play a role in anything she did or put her mind to. She liked going for drives, often times, Lou would ask her, where do you want to go? Often her answer would be, I don't know, or I don't care. Lou still has not been able to find them on a map anywhere. Cindy worked approximately 33 years for the Live Oak Post Office as a Rural Route Carrier, where she retired from in 2017. After she retired, she didn't want to cook, she let Lou do most of that, or they went out to eat. She was happy, being the live in taste tester. She would proof read things written by Lou and he sure could use some input now. Cindy and Lou were married for nearly 49 years, having and raising 3 children. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Opal Miller Robblee, and Walter Thomas Robblee; brother, Lonny Gene Robblee; brother-in-law, Ted Langford; and father-in-law, Ford Langford. Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Lou Langford; son, Mike Langford (Kati); son, Nick Langford; daughter, Melanie Jones (Kevin); grandchildren, Hunter Langford, Hayden Langford, Brydon Jones, and Charlette Jones; grand-furbabies, Commit, Hank, Emmy-Lou, Scooby, and Finn; mother-in-law, Lois Langford; sisters-in-law, Patsy Langford Hites, Margaret Langford Rogers, and Janet Langford Benzel (Jim); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Sparkie, Mimi, Cindy, Babe, Woman, etc., will be truly missed as she left this world far too soon, leaving a void at the dinner table and the responsibility to her children and grandchildren, to watch over Mr. T. More seriously however, that void will be felt by all the lives she touched and moreover by her children and grandchildren who just wanted more time to be with their mom and Mimi. Although Mr. T will have to find a grandchild or dog to replace his live-in taste-tester, he will also have to finally get around to all his projects he has had planned since he won't be nagged as often and provided with honey-do lists. No matter how much he griped about those naggings and to-do lists, we are certain he would gladly take on more to have his life partner and biker babe by his side. A memorial service and celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11am, at The Father's House in Live Oak, CA. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Lions 4th District Student Speakers Foundation Inc., The Gary Sinise Foundation, or your charity of choice.
