Obituary of Natalie C. Cartwright
Natalie C. Cartwright, passed to her heavenly home on February 10, 2023.
She was born in 1921 to Arthur Willis and Hazel Chase in Marysville, CA.
She graduated from Marysville High School where she learned to play the cello and was a member of the orchestra. She was also active as a Rainbow Girl going on to be worthy advisor. She attended Butte Community College and transferred to UC Berkeley.
She worked in San Francisco as a secretary along with her sister Dorthea but returned to Marysville when WWII broke out. She then went to work at Camp Beale as a secretary where she met Corporal Robert Cartwright whom she married and briefly moved to Seattle, WA.
They returned Marysville and Yuba City with one daughter and had two more girls. She was kept busy homemaking, active in the PTA and the PEO sisterhood and St. John's Episcopal church. Natalie was a fabulous cook, baker, crocheter, and sewer among other numerous talents. She also was an avid Giants and 49er fan!
She devoted her life to her family and friends, always making everyone feel special, becoming everyone's favorite aunt, grandma and mother.
She lost her husband of 46 years on January 17, 1991. She had her Wednsday Club, PEO and her Friday lunch group, along with trips to Carmel, Sacramento, and Kingvale, to visit daughters and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Bob; sisters, Dorthea Curtis and Marian Chipman; brother, Arthur Willis Chase Jr.; daughter, Elizabeth and son-in-law, Michael Phebus.
She leaves behind daughters, Candace Drennan (Don) and Susan Phebus; six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family asks that any remembrances be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice Care.
We also wish to thank Jinky Paran, Yolly and Teresita for the wonderful care she was given in Elk Grove at Paran Guest home.
A private family graveside service will be held on March 1, 2023, at Sierra View Memorial Park.
