Obituary of Bobbie Gomes

December 8, 1932 - September 21, 2022 Our head honcho and partner in crime has moved on to more adventures and excitement. On September 21, 2022, Bobbie Anne Gomes passed away at her home at the age of 89, with her two partners, Laura and Alexan by her side. Bobbie was born December 8, 1932, to Robert and Anna Laura Dishman in Ballinger, Texas. She moved to California as an infant and then from District 10 to Yuba City as a young child where she lived out her life. After graduating from Yuba City High School in 1951, she married Ted Gomes, her high school sweetheart. Bobbie and Ted purchased Bud's Frosty Hut in 1965, changing the name to Ted's Frosty Hut. After servicing the community with their well-known burgers and Frosties for more than 10 years, Bobbie expanded her food service skills and began working for Yuba City Unified School District as a Manager of the Yuba City High School Cafeteria until her retirement in 1995. Bobbie came into this world with an artist's paintbrush in one hand and a sewing pattern in the other; you would be blessed to own a Bobbie Bears Creation. She was talented in many ways and shared her magical touch in decorating, designing and art with family and friends until her passing. She could out shop the best of them and always found the best deal. Saturday garage sales, thrift stores and auctions were her favorite variety of shopping. She could take another person's junk and transform it into a treasure. Bobbie is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Gomes, who passed away in 2003; her parents, Robert and Anna Laura Dishman; brothers, Jay Dishman and Charlie Dishman. Bobbie is survived by her two daughters, Laura Poma with spouse, Richard Poma; and Alexan Cerna with spouse, Albert Cerna; a brother, Ed Dishman with spouse, Onieda Dishman; two granddaughters, Melissa Tomita and Erin Poma with spouse, Aaron Sweet; and three great-grandchildren, Chancellor Poma-Sweet, Laurissa Poma-Sweet and Dax Tomita. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Sutter North Hospice, 400 Plumas Street, Suite 115, Yuba City, CA 95991. Mom, we love you and we were very lucky to have you as our mother, our mentor, our matriarch and friend. Interment will be private. Services are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
