Obituary of Priscilla Ann Miller
Our beautiful mother, Priscilla Ann Miller, passed away peacefully at Adventist/Rideout Hospital on March 23, 2023, and joined her family and friends in heaven. Our hearts are heavy from our loss but we are thankful she is at peace and has been welcomed into the arms of the Lord.
Priscilla was born at Rideout Hospital in Marysville, California on October 9, 1935, to Louis and Carrie Souza. She lived in the area her entire life. In her early years, she lived on a dairy farm with her family in Wheatland, California, where her father worked. They eventually moved to Marysville where she attended Notre Dame Elementary and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1953.
She went on to attend Yuba College for a short time, eventually meeting and marrying Gary Miller, whom she had 3 children with, Kelly, Grady and Lisa. Priscilla and Gary divorced after 17 years of marriage. She married Richard Morrison and after their relationship ended, she remained single and, until the past year, very independent.
To know Priscilla was to love her! She loved a good joke, she loved to laugh, and she loved to make others laugh, and that she did. Whether at home or on the job, she was hardworking, dedicated and reliable. She was a meticulous housekeeper, gardener and a fantastic cook who always had a new recipe to try.
Over the years, she worked at the Yuba County Courthouse, Devon's Jewelers and eventually retired from PG&E after 25 years of service. Even after retiring, she worked at a local law office until she was 83 years old. She had grit! She was also extremely dependable. If she told you she was going to do something or be somewhere, you can bet she would follow through.
Family was a big priority for her and she always made time to visit and maintain contact, to send a beautiful and heartfelt card or let them know she was thinking of them. She showed she cared and was always there for whoever needed her, especially her children. She loved us deeply and unconditionally and knowing she was always there is a comfort that we will miss so much. She was a feisty, vibrant and amazing woman who had many, many friends, some from as far back as grade school that she continued to meet up with on a regular basis until her health prevented her from doing so.
There are no words to convey how much we will miss our mom. She was one of a kind and her light will shine on in us.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Carrie Souza; her brother, George Souza; nephew, Mark Souza; and daughter-in-law, Kim Miller.
She is survived by her 3 children, Kelly (Barb) Miller, Grady Miller and Lisa (Mike) Gould; grandsons, Luke, Tucker, and Tyler Landerman, Anthony (Shawna) Miller, Aaron (Bianca) Miller, Jarred Miller and Evan (Inna) Miller; great-grandchildren, Ayden, J.J., Anthony Jr., Sawyer, Atticus, Aiden, Claire and Heston; sister-in-law, Sharon Souza; cousins, Dave (Debbie) Barton, Jeff (Sandy) Barton, Brad Barton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A mass will be held for Priscilla at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 702 C Street, Marysville, CA, on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 11:00am with a reception to follow in the parish hall and gymnasium next to the church. Food and beverages will be served.
