Elmer passed away on June 19, 2023, at his home surrounded by loved ones after a long fight with dementia. He was born on September 26, 1935, in Chowchilla, CA, to Eldon and Allie Carothers. They moved to the Yuba-Sutter area in 1946, where he graduated from Sutter High School in 1954. He served in the National Guard for 3 years. In 1969, he moved to Live Oak where he was a butcher for over 20 years. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, hunter and bowler at Nu-Generation lanes where he had many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Allie Carothers; his brother Raymond Carothers; his daughter, Wanda Konig; granddaughter Rachel; and his beloved dog and fishing buddy, Elmo. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gloria; his son, Douglas Carothers; his daughters, Phyllis Reynolds and Debra Uman (Thomas); stepsons, Tony Holt and Timothy Holt (Melinda); 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 8, 2023, at the Native Daughters Hall in Sutter at 7393 Lyon Street, at 1pm. Lunch will be served.
