Obituary of Deane Merlen Coats

Deane Merlen Coats of Sacramento, CA passed on June 24, 2023 in Rancho Cordova, CA. Born to Merle L. Coats and Lenore M. (Ledford) Coats on APril 16, 1936 at the Rideout Hospital in Marysville, CA. Deane lived in Yuba City until 1957 when he moved to Sacramento, CA to work for the State of California at the Dept. of Water Resources until 1969, and then went to work for the Materials and Research Dept. of Highways until retirement in 1996. Deane and his wife, Carol, traveled throughout the western United States during their retirement. Deane enjoyed Ham Radio for over 40 years with the FCC Call NR6A. Survivors are son, Gregory D. Coats and Daughter Joni L. Coats, four granddaughters, and 11 great grandchildren. Deane had one sister Susan (Coats) Houston of Alabama. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 11AM at Sutter Cemetery Memorial Building.
