Obituary of Steryl L. Carter

Steryl L. Carter, 100, of Yuba City, CA, passed away on September 30, 2023 in Yuba City, CA at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born August 29, 1923 in Sims, AR. Steryl was married 74 years to his wife Wyvonee Carter. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2016. He is survived by two daughters, Ramona Carter Escoe (John) and Lisa Carter Isaacson. Four grandchildren, Nikki Brooks (Troy), Carey Escoe (Jessica), Ali Martin (Ben) and Lara Garcia. One great-granddaughter Adeline Martin, a brother Kenneth Carter of Van, TX, sister Beuna Parrish, brother-in-law Don Perrin, sister-in-law Connie Perrin and sister-in-law Lis Carter and numerous nieces and nephews. Steryl joined the Navy in 1943 and served until the end of WWII in 1946. He was the owner operator of two produce markets in Gridley and Yuba City. He loved playing scrabble late in life and beating his daughters and friends who played. He was an elder in the Church of Christ on Littlejohn Road in Yuba City. Church and family was his greatest joy in life. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Sutter Cemetery immediately following the service.
