Jesus "Chuy" Siordia was born in Jalisco, Mexico on December 17, 1927, although he would often celebrate on what he called his true date of birth, December 8th. He was also known to his friends as "Jesse" and to those who worked for him as "Don Jesus." While in Mexico, he served in the National Defense Army. Then he moved to California through the Bracero program where he continued working as a farm laborer and eventually advanced to a farm laborer contractor. During the 1970s, he also served as a crew leader for the Marysville Diablo Firefighters. At the age of 80, Chuy proudly retired and was greatly respected in the agricultural community. He lived in the Yuba-Sutter area for over 50 years. He is survived by his children: Rosa Narvaez, Vita Siordia, Lupe Dominguez, Pancho Siordia, Philip Siordia, Miguel Siordia, Shela Montejano, Manuel Langarica, Ana Copelin, Eva Little, Arturo Siordia, Conchi Diaz, including 34 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth Siordia, his son, Johnny Langarica, and 5 brothers and sisters. Chuy passed away at the age of 95, just a few days short of his 96th birthday. He lived a full life and spent his last days being surrounded by what he cherished most: his family and friends. Rosary services will be held at Ullrey Memorial Chapel on December 18, 2023 at 6pm and mass at St. Isidore's Catholic Church on December 19, 2023 at 11am. Burial services will be at Sutter Cemetery immediately following mass. The family invites Chuy's friends to join them afterward at a gathering that will be held at Ellwood Munger Hall, 7740 Butte House Rd., Sutter, CA 95982.
